The Wellness Industry

You've decided you are tired of working for someone else and want to own your own business.  Perhaps you are just looking for a way to earn some extra money to balance the household budget, take an occasional vacation, or put a little money away in a rainy day fund.  If you don't have a skill or passion to guide you, choosing the right industry to put all of your time and energy into is a crucial decision.

After all, you don't want to pin your hopes on a passing fad.  Nor do want to pick an industry that is already saturated with little room for more growth.  For most people, that means finding a product to sell to people you know or meet.  For stability, it needs to be a product that is consumable.  That means it is used up consistently and has to bought again.  And while those vacuum cleaners that people used to go around selling may have been fine products, most households only purchase a new one every decade.

Unless you are adventurous, we would recommend you stay away from companies that are promoting a new, 'revolutionary' product.  Statistics show that most businesses fail within five years. This means that 'getting in on the ground floor' vary rarely will benefit you.  Instead, pick a company that has a track record and steady growth.

Which brings us back to the reason for this article.  Over the last two decades, The Wellness Industry has slowly been building into what today is a trillion dollar industry and shows no sign of slowing down.  That is because, unlike fields like the tech industry or real estate whose values fluctuate, most people always strive to maintain an optimal level of wellness.  Wellness involves everything we do and every emotion we feel as it relates to our well-being. In turn, our well-being directly affects our actions and emotions. It's an ongoing circle. Therefore, it is important for everyone to achieve optimal wellness in order to subdue stress, reduce the risk of illness and ensure positive interactions. And that means people are consistently willing to pay for that better life.

To give you a better understanding of this industry, over the next few pages we are going to describe the various areas of life included in the definition of wellness and why it is an industry that you should include in your search for a business to build.
